BOOK REVIEWS:
I was recently diagnosed as having PD. Sooo, I immediately Googled and Amazoned to find out what the "story" was on Parkinson's Disease. After being very intimated by the language and tone of the literature in general, I ran across and bought this book and often re-read various passages. It helps to have a sense of humor ... it helps a lot! I also recommend Michael J Fox book, "Lucky Man".

I downloaded this book yesterday on my Kindle and literally couldn't put it down once I started reading it in bed last night. As a person with PD (Parkinson's Disease), I find it so refreshing and uplifting to read about Bev's ability to look for the humor in her circumstances. She turns potentially embarrassing moments into opportunities to laugh, lifting hearts and making new friends on her journey. I highly recommend this book to anyone with PD, family members and friends of PD folks, caregivers, and actually, anyone facing difficult circumstances, physical or otherwise. Humor lifts our hearts. Bev has given us all an incredible gift with this book. She IS a gift! Oh, and one more thing: Not only is this book funny, it's also filled with great, down-to-earth advice for people with Parkinson's -- so much so that she's been a guest blogger on the Michael J. Fox website twice within the last few months. Kudos, "YumaBev"!

I hardly knew anything about Parkinson's but had the privilege of meeting YumaBev and hearing her speak for an hour. Her book is the next best thing--she expresses herself as openly and honestly, and with as much deadpan humor, as if she were in the room with you. This book is really an insight into how life, anyone's life, can be made better through humor. Bev has perfected the art of laughing at herself and her circumstances in a way that is uplifting, not degrading. I would like to see this book in hospital waiting rooms and care centers everywhere, as it would be helpful to anyone facing a difficult diagnosis or change in health. Plus it is easy to just open the book randomly, read a quick story, then leave with a smile. Thanks Beverly for sharing your amusing self with us all! Oh, and if anyone seeing this review has not seen Bev's YouTube videos, check her out at http://www.youtube.com/user/ParkinsonsHumor
(she admits she cannot sing, and that is part of the charm--you know this lady is genuine!)

Down loaded to my Kindle Fire and started reading it right away. I was diagnosed with Parkinson's in '96 and I can relate with and laugh at a lot of the stories that YumaBev writes about. Hard to put the book down.

From beginning to end, this book written by Bev about the challenges of dealing with life while being bestowed with Parkinson's Disease is funny in unexpected ways and very intelligent in her meticulous and careful approach to what can be a debilitating condition. Bev is also very, very warm and human when discussing the serious side of who we want to be as Parkinson's people and what our choices are. Beautifully written and laugh-until-you-cry-funny; I'd like to say I haven't had so much fun since my last natural disaster, but why tempt fate? Thank you, Bev. You've done, so very much!

Beverly Ribaudo (Yuma Bev) has a great sense of humor. I call her "the Queen of Humor"! She has a gift to be able to share her humor with the world, and with people who have Parkinson's Disease. When Beverly writes her short stories about her daily life with Parkinson's, she always has something funny to say about that day.
Beverly writes about Parkinson's in a very light and humorous way, so everyone can understand more about the disease. This book is perfect for the newly diagnosed, as well as those who have Parkinson's for many years. It is also perfect for caregivers and family members to read out loud to their Parkinson's partners and friends. We all need humor in our daily lives!

Bev Mittan Ribaudo, what an absolutely uplifting and funny book. It came at 6 PM today by UPS and I am already on page 98. As I read, hardly a page goes by that I don't tell my Wonderful Wife, who is 28 years my junior about what you have written about you and your Wonderful Husband who is 20 years your senior. You have written a book that is well worth the ten bucks and should be read by anyone with PD, their caretakers and anyone who wants to know what life is like with PD. Good job girl.

I used my husband's Amazon account to buy this book. As a person with young onset Parkinson's I know Bev from Twitter and when I heard she had put a book together I was keen to buy it. You might think that Parkinson's is no laughing matter but I think Bev's approach is very healthy; let's face it what's the alternative? It's a challenging disease but facing it with a positive mindset is far preferable to looking on the dark side of life. As well as Bev's humour, there are also some very informative sections in the book. I wish I had been able to read this when I was first diagnosed.Whether you are a person who has Parkinson's or a carer/family member this book is certainly worth a look.

I am a Parkinson's advocate (lost my Mom to the disease in 2010) and had been following Beverly Ribaudo's blog for a while when this book came out. I bought a copy as soon as it was available. Humor is such an important part of treating and fighting a chronic disease like Parkinson's--way too many patients sink into depression and apathy and isolate themselves. Ms. Ribaudo's approach to living with disease is refreshing, honest, and entertaining. Highly recommended for anyone whose life has been touched by Parkinson's.
